You work hard for your money and sometimes you just need to take a break. You need to go away for the weekend for some much-needed R&R. Saving up for a vacation can be intimidating, but it doesn’t have to be. Here are some baby steps to save up for a much-needed break.
Collect Your Change….Digitally
- I had a change jar in my house that I would always forget to throw my change in. It didn’t add up to much as I repeatedly forgot to empty my pockets of change at the end of the day. Find an online bank that offers you the chance to round up your purchases and put that round up in a savings account. If you make a few purchases a day, that extra “change” can really add up.
Analyze Your Spending
- For the longest time, I would just go into my wallet and hand over my debit card for every purchase. Eventually, that large chunk of money I thought I could put into savings at the end of the month wasn’t there. I wasn’t looking at how I spent my money. Find a bank that will do this for you. You can then put yourself on a budget and save up to get out of town.
- Some online banks offer bonuses for spending or using round up savings accounts. Look for these programs and thank the banking gods they exist. If you compound cash back rewards with roundups and bonuses, you can save up for the weekend trip much quicker than you anticipated.
